The South Dakota Fusion Center is a law enforcement task force comprised of partners from, federal, state and local levels of government. The SDFC facility operates primarily at the law enforcement sensitive level (LES) with separate access to Federal Secret-level systems. The SDFC operates as an information-sharing environment. The SDFC’s goal is to advance responsible information sharing to further counterterrorism, homeland security, and criminal investigation missions within the state of South Dakota and the U.S. The SDFC accomplishes this, in part, by promoting partnerships across federal, state, local, and tribal governments, and the private sector. To accomplish its mission, the SDFC supports The Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) HSIN-Intel South Dakota Community of Interest, and Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) to foster collaboration and promote the work of sharing crime and terrorism information between law enforcement agencies across the state.
The SDFC specializes in threats to the homeland and the State of South Dakota. These threats include violent and organized criminal activity, concealment of identification, domestic and international terrorism, threats to critical infrastructure, and threat information sharing.
